Maura Higgins has reached out to Laura Whitmore in response to her quitting as Love Island host, just as many fans call for her to get the job.
After being at the helm of the show for three years, Laura announced on Monday night that she was stepping down as host, before the next series in South Africa in early 2023. Announcing her big news on Instagram, Laura wrote: "Some news! I won’t be hosting the next series of Love island. There are certain elements of the show I’ve found very difficult that cannot be changed some due to the format, including the flying back and forth to South Africa along with my new conflicting projects. I wish it was still possible but know you’ll be in safe hands."
Laura ended her post with a tribute to Caroline Flack, her friend and Love Island predecessor, who she took over from in early 2020, writing: " "I was only planning to fill in for Caroline for a series and it turned into 3 series. I hope I did you proud Caroline."

Plenty of Love Island stars were quick to react to Laura's news, with Faye Winter, Adam Collard and Shaughna Phillips among the many to comment. And another former contestant to respond was Maura, who went into the villa in the summer of 2019, when Caroline was still presenter.. Speaking out in the comments thread, Maura, who has since gone onto host Glow Up Ireland, wrote: "You will be missed."
It didn't take long for Love Island fans to jump on Maura's comment to express their wish for her to replace Laura in the coveted TV role. One told her: "you should take over 100%," with another, echoing the exact same sentiment, replying: "please host love island !! You’ll be amazing at it!"
