Love Island's Malin Andersson battled suicidal thoughts after baby daughter's death

Love Island star Malin Andersson has candidly spoken out about losing her baby girl, Consy, and how it left her feeling suicidal.

The reality star, 29, was devastated when her daughter died aged just four and a half weeks in December 2018.

Malin was 'in a dark place' following her loss and has been open about her experience so that other 'people feel less alone'.

"I think it's something that isn't spoken about at all. It's almost a taboo subject," she told GB News presenter Isabel Webster.

"The more we do talk about it, the more awareness we can raise, and people feel less alone."

The star added: "It was very hard, I was in a very dark place for quite a while. I'd wake up each day with this dark cloud hanging over me and I kind of had to ask myself: do I want to wake up like this every day for the rest of my life? Do I want to feel suicidal or do I want to experience these feelings or can I get better and can I work towards feeling partly like me again?"

The TV personality asked her mother what she thought her 'little girl would want to see'.

"I just had to find strength from somewhere and start the journey of healing and that is hard to do," she added during Breakfast with Isabel Webster and Stephen Dixon to mark Baby Loss Awareness Week.

“I think in all of us there is some kind of strength somewhere."

Malin discussed how many people feel 'awkward' talking about the subject but she says talking about Consy make her feel like she's here.

"When people kind of skirt around, it's like they're trying to forget that it happened and obviously that's not the case," Malin explained.

"They just don't know what to say, so I think speaking about it just normalises it and makes the mother or father know that their feelings are valid."

Malin welcomed her baby, Xaya, earlier this year and previously revealed her birth stirred up emotions after the loss of her first-born child.

Malin was understandably anxious throughout her second pregnancy as she feared 'something bad would happen' and was rushed for an emergency C-section but fortunately her healthy baby arrived.

And sharing exclusively to OK she revealed she felt the presence of Consy was with her during Xaya's birth as a 'guardian angel' looking down on her and telling her "it will all be alright".

The star shares Xaya with former partner Jared, who she split with soon after the birth.
