Love Island's Luca explains Patsy Palmer connection after she wished him luck on show

Love Island contestant Luca Bish has explained his connection to former EastEnders star Patsy Palmer.

The Bianca Jackson actress took to Instagram earlier this week to wish Luca good luck on the ITV2 reality show - and now their bond has been explained.

Sharing a snap of Luca on her Instagram Story, Patsy wrote alongside it: “Omg @lucabish all grown up and going on @loveisland we cannot wait to watch you.

“You will smash it so beautiful, kind & funny. YAY from your Malibu crew," she added alongside several pink heart emojis.

Speaking to The Mirror and other press, Luca explained his relationship with the 50-year-old star.

"She's just a really close family friend," he said. "Obviously, she's in Malibu now so not as close but she's a very close family friend. My parents are always calling her back and forth."

Speaking about his relatives, Luca continued: "My family are buzzing for me to go on the show. Well my dad doesn't react to anything, but my mum and sister are buzzing for me.

"With my friends, if you tell one of them, they'll tell another one and I couldn't risk it unfortunately, but I'd like to see their reactions when I'm out. It was hard keeping it a secret from them!"

The 23-year-old fishmonger from Brighton has almost admitted that his mates are always telling him that he needs to "drop" his standards when it comes to dating and women.

Love Island starts at 9pm Monday 6th June on ITV2 and ITV Hub (ITV)

Luca is hoping to bring plenty of laughs to the Love Island villa this summer, but could also bring some drama too.

When asked how competitive he is, Luca replied: "Proper competitive - I hate losing. I’m not a home-wrecker but if it’s early doors and I like that girl then I’ll go for her."

*Love Island starts at 9pm Monday 6th June on ITV2 and ITV Hub. Episodes are available the following morning on BritBox.
