Luca Bish's family has hit back at claims that his family-focused approach is because of Gemma Owen's famous dad. Gemma's father, Michael Owen, is an ex-professional football player who played for Manchester United and England. He has confirmed that he will not be entering the villa this year for the Meet The Parents segment of the show.
Gemma and Luca were one of the first couples to get together in Love Island this year, and on a romantic date last night they confessed their love for each other. On their date, Luca said: "You know I’ve fallen for you and I’ve brought you to where we’ve had our first chat." He continued: "It’s gone a bit better since then but I’ve never been so sure in saying something because I’ve not seen a future with someone like I have with you. I can’t help how I feel and hopefully you feel the same. I’ve never been so sure in saying something. I think I’m in love with you. No, I am in love with you."
A smitten Gemma responded: "I love you too."

Luca's family were quick to post on social media following the programme, showing their support for their loved one. "Another evening of happy tears. So so proud of the man you have become. The biggest romantic.
"Tons of support but for the people bashing someone for being vulnerable and affectionate on national TV, you evidently haven't felt the same way. Luca doesn't do the mediocre type of love."
The statement continued: "Family is such a big thing for him, and for her, so when he refers to it, it's not because of her dad as much as some want to run with that. It's because it's just generally such an important aspect of their lives which is lovely.
"Back to the funny memes now, but I felt it needed to be said. Wouldn't change him for the world and hope he forever continues being this loving."
Some fans have questioned the timing of Luca and Gemma's confession of love for one another with the series drawing to a close. Is it true love, or an attempt to win the show? Only time will tell.
Love Island continues tonight at 9pm on ITV2, and you can catch up on all the action on the ITV Hub.
