Love Island's Luca admits he was going through 'similar stuff' as Jacques before he left

Love Island runner-up Luca Bish admitted he was going through 'similar stuff' as Jacques O'Neill before leaving the villa.

The fishmonger, who came second with Gemma Owen, went on Instagram Live with rugby player Jacques and Dami Hope on Sunday.

The lads discussed their experience on the ITV2 show, which saw Jacques leaving the villa due to mental health reasons after clashing with rival Adam Collard over partner Paige Thorne.

On his departure, the reality star said he "massively underestimated" the impact the show would have on him mentally after his family revealed he had ADHD while on the show.

And now, several weeks later, Luca hinted he went through the same struggles as Jacques while in the Mallorcan villa.

However, he was able to stick it out and admitted his Love Island experience wasn't as he thought it would be.

"It was a good experience but for our personalities, it was very tough, it was weird," he told his pal on Live.

After departing the villa last month, Jacques admitted he had a horrible time.

"The last two weeks was definitely the worst I’ve ever felt in my life," he said.

He added: "I was finding myself feeling worse and worse every day. And if I didn't leave when I did, I was scared I would never have got back to my normal self."

During their time on the show, both Luca and Jacques were criticised for their behaviour towards the women.

Fans believed Luca and Dami 'bullied' model Tasha Ghouri in the snog, marry or pie challenge, with both choosing her and making 'nasty' remarks.

Some also slammed the star over his reaction to watching Gemma's interaction with Billy Brown, with his family taking to social media to defend him.

Meanwhile, Jacques came under fire from fans after he kissed Cheyanne Kerr in Casa Amor, which was highlighted during one of the night's explosive recoupling.

Due to the backlash, his family plead with viewers to 'be kind' after revealing the former contestant was diagnosed with ADHD when he was nine.

"Jacques was diagnosed with ADHD when he was 9 years old," his family wrote.

"By no means is this a get out clause for his actions but it is to show that he can fundamentally struggle with his emotions at times."

Since leaving the villa, Jacques revealed he will be a 'better person' but has a 'lot of work to do' on himself
