Love Island’s Liberty Poole has weighed in on the villa drama this year as Gemma Owen and Luca Bish ’s relationship hit the rocks this week.
While in the villa, Liberty’s relationship with Jake Cornish left viewers heartbroken as they exited the villa together after calling it quits days before the final of the show.
In a similar way, Gemma and Luca have hit the rocks in the final week of the ITV2 dating show after the Mile High challenge fractured the couple on Tuesday evening’s episode.
Dressed as Cabin Crew, the girls prepped the boys for departure, gave a full safety briefing and offered refreshments before joining their chosen passenger for a private Mile High Club moment.
Luca became irritated when Gemma licked Adam Collard and Andrew Le Page during the saucy challenge and when she approached him he shoved her to the side, shocking viewers.
Prior to this, Luca caused waves in the villa and among Love Island viewers when he insisted Gemma was “punching” in their relationship.
In the wake of this comment, Liberty weighed in on the drama, which seemed reminiscent of the frays that appeared between her and Jake in the villa this time last year.
Taking to Twitter, Liberty wrote: “Just wanna make it clear to anyone watching Love Island that beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
“Other people's opinions to whether your punching don’t matter, to your partner you should be the most attractive person in the world for looks and personality.”
Jake and Liberty had been inseparable from the very first day in the villa, quickly making their relationship official.
However, cracks appeared after the Movie Night, when Liberty and the Islanders were played a clip of Jake discussing his doubts with the boys and saying he didn’t want to “rip her clothes off”.
Jake’s motives were also questioned by the girls of the villa, as Chloe Burrows and Faye Winter suggested he only dropped the ‘L bomb’ to keep Liberty on side in a bid to scoop the £50,000 prize.
The former waitress went on to call things off with the water engineer in emotional scenes, as she told him: “‘I just don’t feel like you love me for me and I want someone who loves me for me.”
“I just don’t think we’re right for each other,” she confessed, before breaking down in tears.
The pair went on to leave the villa together just days before the final, leaving many predicting Gemma and Luca could see the same fate.
Love Island airs every night at 9pm on ITV2 and ITV Hub.
