Love Island's Liam Llewellyn leaves villa in tears as he confesses reason for leaving

Liam Llewellyn has revealed his real reason for leaving Love Island.

The masters student - who has been studying Strength and Conditioning - has explained why he decided to quit the ITV2 show, leaving his fellow Islanders in shock as he called them all around the firepit to break the news.

He gathered everyone around to explain his decision - admitting he hadn't quite gelled with anyone after splitting from Gemma Owen, who coupled up with Davide, and then neither of the bombshells - Ekin-Su or Afia - seemed to take a shine to him.

Speaking to his fellow Islanders, he said: "Obviously we all came here for the same sort of reason, but I haven't been giving 100 per cent Liam. I know what 100 per cent Liam is and I'm miles off that.

"Trying to find someone you leave the villa with that you love, that's the goal. But when you're not feeling that, it makes it a very hard sort of time to find that. I've been thinking long and hard, it isn't spur of the moment, so I've made a decision I'm going to leave the villa.

He then made a sweet gesture to his fellow Islanders as he told them how much he would miss them.

"You are all unreal. I've had an absolute ball," he added, leaving most of them in tears as he explained his decision to quit the show - even though it had only been a few days.

Luca was emotional as he admitted he would miss Liam, and in a poignant moment, they all headed to the bedroom one last time as Liam said he'd never forget them all and the boys promised they'd all be in touch after the show.

Liam had previously explained how rejection would be the worse thing he could experience in the villa.

Speaking to The Mirror and other press before going into the villa, he said: "Something I am most nervous about is probably the feeling of not being wanted in a recoupling or something, not being picked.

"Everyone wants to be wanted, and wants to be picked. So it’s the feeling of not being picked is a nerve-wracking thought for me. That feeling of being rejected, it's never a nice feeling."

He added: "It puts you in a vulnerable position and that's in front of the whole world. And you’re vulnerable to everyone. I think that’s a position I don't think anyone would want to find themselves in."

Liam decided to leave the villa and sources say he has been consoled by his dad, who immediately flew out to be with him.

"Liam’s confidence was totally knocked when he lost Gemma so when he then also didn’t manage to catch Ekin-Su or Afia’s eye he started to totally overthink everything he did," the source said to The Sun.

"He just began to worry about everything and then felt guilty that he wasn’t enjoying the whole experience like he felt he was meant to, so called it quits. At this point Liam feels really upset. His dad David flew straight out to Majorca to be with him."
