Laura Whitmore has shared big news on Love Island's comeback as viewers are divided over its return to screens.
It's hard to believe that nearly a year has passed since since Millie and Liam were crowned the ITV dating show's latest winners, after tense series which saw the eventual champions split up after Liam's betrayal in Casa Amor, which Millie found out in very tense and heated scenes as 'other woman' Lillie spilled the beans.
After starting life as a programme where famous faces aimed to find love, with Celebrity Love Island airing in the mid 00s, Love Island bust back onto screens with members of the public going into the villa for the first time in 2015. Since then it has proved to be a ratings juggernaut for ITV2, with millions of viewers tuning in every night.

On Tuesday afternoon, the Love Island start date for this year was confirmed as being Monday, June 6, with that announcement shared by Laura via her Instagram story, by way of a short trailer featuring the show's famous theme tune. But, just as the show's presenter celebrated its return, others weren't so sure on social media.
One viewer took to Twitter to post: "Anyone else just not looking forward to Love Island this year. Probably won’t bother watching it tbh. They’re making it even longer it was already too long," while another, also not keen to tune into the new series, reacted: "Never watched it and won’t be starting."
Citing Laura as the very reason for them not watching Love Island, a third tweeted: "Me and so many of my friends family and colleagues also won’t be watching if Laura hosts again. Not being unkind, just feel there are so many presenters. What about an ex islander."
There was plenty of Love Island enthusiasm online too though, with one fan commenting: "Won’t be long till Love Island is back and I couldn’t be happier about it."
