Love Island's Laura Whitmore 'paid £600k for under 14 minutes' in series so far

Laura Whitmore is thought to have earned more than half a million pounds for her role on Love Island this season despite being on-screen for under 14 minutes so far.

That means that the host, 37, has currently been paid some £744 per second for her work on the main ITV2 show.

Her lack of airtime hasn't been lost on fans of the show and many have taken to Twitter to voice their concern.

One viewer wrote: "I’d love to have Laura Whitmore’s job. We haven’t seen her since episode one."

Another said: "Where is Laura? All of this texting looks stupid."

The Sun says the Irish model has appeared for just 13 minutes and 26 seconds on the show so far out of a total of 1,610 minutes, or almost 27 hours, which has been broadcast on ITV.

Laura has also hosted three episodes of the spin-off show 'Love Island: Aftersun'.

Love Island said that the host of the show "has never appeared in every episode" and that Laura’s next arrival "will be a surprise".

The show was hit with a huge twist on Thursday when it was revealed that the Islanders will decide who is next to leave the villa.

In a surprise revelation, the Islanders found out that the public had been voting for the most compatible couples and those with the least votes would risk being dumped from the show.

And in a major development, the group were told that they would be the ones to choose who would be next to go.

The public decided their least compatible couples were Tasha and Andrew, Antigoni and Charlie and Jay and Danica, and it means that one boy and one girl out of those six will be next to leave the show.

Elsewhere on tonight's show, Ekin-Su and Davide seemingly decided to give it another go after the actress chose the business owner in the recoupling during Wednesday's programme.

Ekin-Su spoke to Luca to ask him what he thought of the possibility of her trying again with Davide.

"I think she is genuine this time," Luca relayed to Davide. "She put her heart out there now in front of everyone. In the firepit to say what she said.

"She wants a chance, she wants to try and get back to the way you were."

Ekin-Su then made a beeline for Davide and explained she wanted to try it again.

"I am ready to make it up to you, I am ready to try," she said.

"It’s cool if we take it slow, it’s cool if we’re friends, it’s cool I’m not going to pressurise you at all. I just want to know that you’ll give me a chance?"
