Love Island's Laura Whitmore hits back at accusations she 'humiliated' contestant Remi Lambert

Laura Whitmore has hit back at accusations that she 'humiliated' Love Island contestant Remi Lambert on Sunday's episode off spin-off show Aftersun.

Remi had only been in the villa a matter of days when the latest recoupling took place and, after none of the girls chose him, he was left standing alone by the fire pit, before being given his marching orders. Prior to getting the flight back to the UK from Majorca, Remi, just like every other Islander kicked off Love Island, appeared on Aftersun to face questions from Laura.

And, noticing he looked increasingly uncomfortable as the interview went on, especially when the Irish presenter asked him to rap, some viewers accused Laura of trying to show him up.

One fumed: "LAURA your treatment of Remi was absolutely despicable. You use #bekind when it suits you. #LoveIslan d. Don’t kick someone when he is down. He could barely speak but yet you ask him to rap. I hope he receives extensive aftercare. He was clearly struggling." Equally unimpressed by Laura's handling of the situation, another branded Laura an 'evil witch' reacting: "Laura Whitmore what happened to #bekind???! You knew people were making fun of his rap scene and still made him do that you evil witch. I wish Remi all the best"

The tweet about Laura, which the host shared on her own Twitter timeline read: "Hope #LoveIsland supports Remi He looked broken on #Loveislandaftersun Asking him to rap was done in bad faith and to humiliate. I thought @thewhitmore & crew were supposed to "BE KIND."

Writing above the post to defend herself against the heat she'd been getting online, Laura said: "Remi is a rapper and asked in good faith in advance if he’d rap and prepare something which he did. Live Telly is nerve wrecking, believe me, so maybe he was a bit nervous but he deserved to have his time. Also I want to make Remi & Afia happen!"

Her response did little to quash some viewers' complaints though, with one telling her: "There were so many clues..from his first answer, to the public’s "awwwww" reaction, to Toby and Chloe’s face reaction, to Afia’s face, to his body language (arms crossed), and finally his one line answers…you choose to missed them all…. #bekind yeah?!

But, cutting her some slack, one of her followers responded: "Fair dues Laura! It was hardly your decision to "put him on the spot" I'm sure there are dozens in a background team somewhere that plan these things.. but unfortunately you're the one in the firing line."
