The Great Celebrity Bake Off is set to kick off tonight, March 22, in the name of Stand Up To Cancer. The celebrity spin-off of the classic competitive baking show will see 19 stars go head to head in a bid to raise some life-saving dough and win a star baker apron.
One of the nineteen stars in Love Island's Laura Whitmore. The 36-year-old, who is married to Love Island narrator Iain Sterling, will be appearing on our screens this summer as the popular reality show returns for an eighth season.
Ahead of her stint on The Great Celebrity Bake Off, Laura has drawn some similarities between the seemingly unconnected shows of Love Island and Bake Off. Speaking to PA before the show, Laura said: "I think they’re both entertainment shows, and they both involve a lot of challenges, and lots of tasty items so actually there are many similarities – who would’ve thought it?

"But there’s not much culinary stuff on Love island, beyond breakfast. You don’t really see them eat, because they eat off camera.
“Have there ever been bakers who have fallen in love with each other on the show? I don’t think it’s that kind of show.”
The former MTV video jockey then added: "But I suppose the thing that unites them is that they’re both entertainment shows, and I think the news is quite hard to watch, and there’s lots of negativity out there, so it’s nice to have shows that are fun and entertaining and for the family.
“Believe it or not, I know lots of families that all watch Love Island together. I can imagine watching Love Island with your grandmother may be slightly awkward!”
Laura will be joined by a host of stars in the competition. Other participants in The Great Celebrity Bake Off include Sir Mo Farah, Motsi Mabuse, Example, Ellie Goulding, and Alex Horne.
Each episode of the five-part series will feature four new celebrities taking on three challenges - the Signature, the Technical, and the Showstopper - as they try and impress Prue Leith and Paul Hollywood. This series will see a first in the show's history, though, as presenter Matt Lucas gets stuck into the challenges and faces the pressures of the tent under the scrutiny of co-presenter Noel Fielding as he fills in for a missing contestant.
