Kem Cetinay is said to be “traumatised” after he was involved in a fatal car crash which left one dead.
The 26-year-old former Love Island winner was driving in Romford, Essex on Thursday morning when his vehicle – a Mercedes G-Wagon – collided with a motorbike.
According to witnesses, the motorcyclist was overtaking cars while driving up Shepherds Hill as the TV star drove down.
Paramedics fought to save the motorcyclist, but he tragically died at the scene.
Cetinay was unharmed and is helping police as a witness with their enquiries.
“I feel for him. He watched someone die in front of his eyes,’ one witness told The Sun. ‘The driver of the motorbike flew about 20ft into the air before landing on the road.”
A Metropolitan Police spokesman told the Standard: “Police were called at 11:32hrs on Thursday, 4 August to reports of a collision at Shepherds Hill, Romford.
“Police and London Ambulance Service attended. At the scene a car had been in collision with a motorcycle.
“Despite the efforts of medics, the male motorcyclist was sadly pronounced dead at the scene at 12:04. Enquiries are underway to notify next of kin.
“The driver of the car stopped at the scene and is assisting police with their enquiries. He was not arrested.”
A statement released by Cetinay’s representative said: “Kem was involved in a road traffic accident close to his home in the Brentwood area at approximately 11.30am [on August 4].
“Tragically, a motorcyclist died in the collision. Kem has been assisting the police and is being treated purely as a witness to the incident.
“Kem will be making no further comment on this matter aside to offer his deepest condolences, prayers and sympathies to the motorcyclist’s family and friends.”
Cetinay originally shot to fame after winning Love Island in 2017 with former girlfriend Amber Davies, 25.
They split four months after the ITV2 show ended, but remain on good terms.
He and former Love Island co-star Chris Hughes, 29, went on to star in spin-off series Straight Outta Love Island and released a single together entitled Little Bit Leave It.
The former barber has since worked for ITV’s This Morning as an entertainment reporter and took part in Dancing On Ice in 2018.
Last July, he opened Essex restaurant Array.
