Love Island 's Jay Younger has shared his thoughts on this year's final couples and the alleged 'toxic' comments that were made in the villa.
Jay, who hails from Edinburgh, was dumped from the ITV2 show on July 11 whilst paired up with Chyna Mills, but has admitted he was glad he wasn't in the villa when certain things were said.
In an exclusive interview with The Mirror, Jay said: "Firstly I would say I don't condone any misogynistic behaviour and I was glad I wasn't in the villa when these kind of comments were being made."
The 28-year-old Scotsman continued: "The viewer does only see a small section of the episode and sometimes life is different outside of what really happens. I don't think it's intentionally meant to be toxic."
In reference to how Islanders Luca Bish and Dami Hope acted towards Tasha Ghouri, Jay said: "I don't think the boys are doing it with the intent of coming across... I think they're just trying to protect Andrew. I think Luca was just probably feeling a bit insecure maybe."
It comes after Ofcom confirmed that they received a total of 286 complaints about the July 26 episode of Love Island, which were in relation to Luca's behaviour.
Ofcom also received 180 complaints in regards to Monday's final because many were "upset" about which couples were in the final, with some accusing the show of being "rigged".
Asked if he thinks the right couples were in the final, Jay said: "First of all, I think it's a big win for the millennials over Generation Z because Davide and Ekin are millennials.
"So it was more a celebratory moment for us because a more mature age bracket winning Love Island, which probably goes against the grain where you're seeing sub 25 winning because they're just more relatable in terms of age to the viewers perhaps, so that was great to see.
"In terms of the couples that were actually there... if you think about it, Dami and Indiyah they went on a journey, Tasha and Andrew they've been on a journey... Luca and Gemma were there from the start, they didn't really have a test."
He then added: "Davide and Ekin definitely had a test and obviously I was involved in that test!"
Jay shared a sneaky kiss with Ekin-Su in a memorable moment from the 2022 series which saw them both crawling onto the terrace so that Davide couldn't see them.
Asked if he wished he had pursued connections with anyone else during his time in the villa, Jay admitted: "I think at the time when I came in, I definitely felt like I created an impact and because things moved so fast with Ekin-Su, I overlooked maybe certain connections, obviously Paige being one of them.
"But at that moment in time, I think Paige was the only one that I really overlooked," Jay added.
