Love Island's Jay 'completely misreads' breakup with Ekin-Su

The sparks were flying from moment one on ITV2’s Love Island as Jay seemed to completely misread his attempts to move away from Ekin-Su, and closer to Islander Paige. Jay seemed to be absolutely chuffed with how his chat with the actress from Essex went.

He repeatedly told the other housemates that the breakup “couldn’t have went better”. Ekin-Su was calm during the conversation but her feelings quickly changed.

Jay was in for a bit of a surprise as it seems Ekin-Su was slightly broadsided by the chat, but once she was able to process it didn’t seem quite so happy about the new arrangement. After taking a moment to think about the conversation Ekin-Su approached Jay.

Calling him out, she said: “First of all, I take everything back that I said here. I was calm, collected, and it just hit me now what you have done. You knew at the recoupling to stay safe that I would pick you. You could have got to know Paige from day dot.”

The actress said his behaviour had been “muggy” and he should write it on his forehead, which certainly felt like a massive mic drop. Some Love Island fans were quick to jump on the banter train in response to Jay’s misread of how his chat went.

@f1onacollins said: "The way jay COMPLETELY misread that convo with Ekin. I'm dying #LoveIsland."

@lottimaerose foresaw the argument coming. She said: "Jay ain’t know the storm that’s bout to unfold."

@bouncypigeon also saw the trouble brewing before Ekin-Su erupted. They said: “'She was so understanding.' Nah bro she’s sharpening her knives you dummy."
