Love Island's Jacques walked out of villa before quitting show after Adam row

Love Island star Jacques O’Neill has revealed he walked out of the villa doors to remove himself from a heated situation, not long before his exit from the show.

It seems to have happened hours before his departure, and could explain "missing scenes".

Fans had been left confused over Jacques' sudden exit, after he got heated over Adam Collard the night before - with many believing something else may have happened between the two key moments.

Now, it may have been revealed what went down, after Jacques confirmed he walked out of the villa to get away from a situation in the compound.

Jacques lost it and slammed Adam after being told the bombshell had "s****ed him off", with him soon shouting at Paige Thorne over what had gone on.

After the heated moment where Jacques said Adam was "nothing", viewers saw an emotional Jacques the next morning deciding to leave the show.

But now the Islander has suggested to The Sun that he actually walked out of the villa following the row, as he needed to get out and remove himself from the unfolding situation - after revealing that the show "broke him".

Confessing he feared he would get physical with Adam if he didn't get out, Jacques commented that he was spoken to by producers after he walked through the front doors.

He said: "I thought if I don’t get myself out things could go horribly wrong and I could get physical.

"At home you can remove yourself from situations, but in there you had to deal with every situation, and in that moment I took my microphone off, and walked straight through the front doors because I just wanted to get out of that place.

"Producers tried coming to me, they were like, ‘Jacques, are you OK? I was saying, ‘I don’t want to speak to you or anyone. I want to be left to myself.’ It was too much.

"I was saying to them, ‘This is more than a TV show to me’, it was genuine feelings involved and my headspace wasn’t right to be in a TV show.

"I dealt with stuff in there that I’ve never dealt with in my life."

Meanwhile, ITV have denied Jacques was pressured to stay on the show after he claimed bosses tried to convince him to remain in the villa.

A spokesperson told The Mirror: "We cannot comment on any individual's medical records owing to confidentiality and our own duty of care towards the Islanders, however we have rigorous and extensive checks in place to assess Islanders' physical and mental health in advance of being cleared to enter the Villa. This is something we take extremely seriously.

"As we said at the time, Jacques made the decision to leave and we respected that decision. Islanders are welcome to leave should they choose to do so and we would never put pressure on someone to stay in the Villa."

Love Island airs every night at 9pm on ITV2 and ITV Hub.
