Love Island's Jacques O’Neill once cycled the wrong way down the motorway

Love Island 's Jacques O’Neill once cycled the wrong way down the motorway after getting lost.

The 23-year-old Castleford Tigers player caused a stir in the Spanish villa when he arrived over the weekend, as he previously dated Gemma Owen.

One of the rugby player’s former teammates, England international Luke Gale, spoke about Jacques during an interview on Proper Sport, and joked that while he was a “lovely kid”, he’s made some reckless decisions.

“Lovely kid, but probably one of the thickest lads I’ve ever met, and… I’ve met a few,” he laughed.

The former Castleford Tigers captain recalled an incident which left Jacques frantically pedalling down a motorway in West Yorkshire after getting lost following a mxi-up with a sat nav.

“His first full week in training, he doesn't drive or anything like that. He's living in Beeston with one of the conditioners,” Luke explained.

“He says to Paul McShane, who lives in Belle Isle, can he get a lift. Paul says 'yeah you'll have to be at mine for eight in the morning'.

“He says he'll cycle up, set off at 7 and be at his for 8. He rings Paul back three hours later and says there's one problem, he doesn't have a bike!” Luke laughed.

After Jacques finally got himself sorted with a bike by borrowing one, but his problems began when he tried to make his own way home.

“He gets dropped off and he's driving home from Belle Isle to Beeston. He gets his sat nav on his phone as if he's in the car and he's driving and for some reason he facetimes Macca and says 'Paul I'm lost, I'm on the M621 on a bike!'” Luke exclaims, as the hosts dissolve into laughter.

“He was driving the wrong way down the motorway on a bicycle!” he added.

He said Jacques was told to get off the motorway otherwise he’d “get himself killed”.

“Honestly, he got the sat nav as he was in a car and he's just gone on the hard shoulder, he said cars were beeping at him and everything,” he laughed.
