Love Island's Gemma Owen set to sign huge six-figure clothing line deal

Love Island star Gemma Owen is reportedly in line to sign a six-figure deal to become the face of clothing brand Boohoo.

The international dressage rider, 19, has been sought-after following her appearance on the popular ITV2 reality dating show, where she finished as runner-up alongside Luca Bish. Gemma and Luca, who are not officially a couple despite spending all but five days in the Spanish villa together, came in second place behind Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu and Davide Sanclimenti for the £50,000 prize money.

Gemma, daughter of former England striker Michael Owen, 42, already has her own swimwear line - OG Beachwear - which she wore throughout the eight weeks in Majorca and other clothing brands are keen to get her onboard. It is believed that deals were lined up before she even set foot in the villa but it appears that Boohoo have managed to convince Gemma to become the face of the brand.

If the deal goes through, Gemma will be the first contestant from this series to take advantage of the publicity from the increasingly-popular dating programme. A source told The Sun: "She had lots of brands keen to sign her."

It is said that she celebrated the huge contract at private members club 180 The Strand on Friday. Before she entered Love Island, Gemma had set herself a goal of becoming a billionaire like her idol Kylie Jenner.

Speaking to The Mirror in June, she opened up on her big plans and how she takes inspiration from Kylie’s reality show family the Kardashians. She said: "I would love to carry on with my business which I have just set up. It’s called OG Beachwear. I will be wearing a few bits in the villa, it’s a small collection at the moment.

“I really like the Kardashians, I watch them on telly and I follow them on social media. I think they are all good, powerful business women, what they have made for themselves is really inspiring, I’m a massive fan. Who wouldn’t like to be a billionaire like Kylie?"

Gemma was approached on several occasions to go on Love Island – and agreed after a below-par start to the riding season. She explains: "The summer months are the most important months for my dressage, so the thought of leaving that for two months was not an option and riding takes my priority.

"But my season didn’t get off to a great start this year, so I thought this season will be the best."

The Mirror has contacted Gemma's representatives for comment.
