Love Island's Davide Sanclimenti took hot air balloon ride over Bristol to see sights after 'leaving glasses in the villa'

Davide Sanclimenti has 'upgraded' his glasses after getting into the wrong bed during this year's series of Love Island and leaving them in the villa. Since winning Love Island alongside Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu, Davide has become a brand ambassador for Boots Opticians in a bid to help those who wear glasses to increase their confidence.

As part of his partnership with Boots, Davide arrived in Bristol on Monday, October 10, sharing a snap of sunny Bristol Temple Meads on his Instagram story. The star then spent the night in Bristol, it is assumed, before enjoying a fun day out in the West Country city on Tuesday, October 11.

Davide, 27, could be seen sat in a boardroom watching what appeared to be an advert for Boots Opticians, starring himself, before heading for the skies. With the temperature in Bristol sitting at a frosty 3°C, Davide shared some videos of the balloon being heated up, with a freezing cold emoji.

The reality star then posted a series of breathtaking videos, showcasing the views across Bristol and the countryside which surrounds the city, with the sun hanging low in the sky, basking the land in a golden glow. It's very common to spot a hot air balloon hovering above Bristol's skyline, but, arguably, not one containing a Love Islander.

Boots Opticians took Davide on the unforgettable ride to see what's possible with better eyesight, after new research revealed that a quarter of young people decided to wear glasses after seeing Davide wearing them on Love Island. Davide said: "People don’t always realise how much sight and confidence are linked. Which is why my glasses are such a big part of my life, and my Love Island experience.

"After accidentally getting into the wrong bed and leaving my glasses in the villa, I wanted to see what’s possible when I upgraded my glasses so I went into Boots Opticians and they were so nice. There were so many types of glasses to choose from."

The survey of 2,000 UK residents, commissioned by Boots Opticians as part of its new ‘See What’s Possible’ brand campaign, revealed that people found a new lease of life since improving their eyesight, with nearly a third (32%) saying they have been able to try a new activity such as reading more.

‘Reading new books’ (41%) was the top activity people took up since wearing glasses. Other activities people said they indulge in since improving their eyesight include travelling to new destinations (31%) and learning/studying something new (34%).

Two in ten admitted to going on dates since their eyesight improved, and one in ten said they wear glasses because they think they ‘look better’. Davide Sanclimenti inspired over a quarter (26%) of 18-34 year olds to feel more confident in wearing theirs.

Whilst over three-quarters of glasses-wearers (76%) have already had their eyesight tested within the last two years, Boots is calling upon the rest of the British public to check their eye health and understand the importance of eye health. Reasons that people booked an appointment with an optician include not being able to read something at a meeting (17%) and waving at someone they didn’t know by mistake (11%).
