Love Island has remained a fan favourite for almost 10 seasons for a number of reasons –one of the biggest being its iconic Casa Amor twist.
From series three onwards, the villa has been torn in half for a number of days as the boys and girls are separated and new bombshells are introduced in an attempt to seduce the Islanders into having their heads turned.
And the twist has served up some iconic moments from Michael Griffith's row with Amber Rose Gill, Andrew Le Page's 't*tgate' confession and Shaughna Phillips' sassy line: "Congrats hun".
While the show has confirmed its return for another stint matching sexy singletons in the sun, the producers are keeping tight-lipped on if Casa Amor will make a comeback.
As the Mirror was taken on a tour of the villa by host Maya Jama and producer Mike Spencer, the TV boss was quizzed on Casa Amor.
Mike refused to reveal if the twist would be making a comeback but teased that if it does, Casa Amor will be serving something “a little different“ this time around.
When asked about Casa Amor, Mike says: “We never say if Casa Amor is back but I think things will be a little different this year. Hopefully we’ll keep people on their toes and you won’t expect it.”
However, Mike did reveal the season would be offering up new challenges for Islanders to sink their teeth into.
When asked if there would be new challenges, Mike confirms: “There will be.”
Mike adds how the show producers try to serve new twists and turns at the demand of its audience where possible, as he says: “We are still really reactive so we still look at what people are saying when we’re on air and it plays a massive factor in what we do everyday. We talk every single day about what we’r gonna do that morning, quite extensively, and everything has to be based around their relationships.
“And we’ve got our bombshells in waiting that if they don’t fancy each other we’ve got people that are their types to go in and everything is so reactive.”
Casa Amor isn't the only returning feature on the series as the Baby challenge, Snog, Marry Pie, Movie Night and the Heart Rate challenge have all been staples in recent series.
However, Mike appears to not be oppose to scrapping any of the hallmark tasks as when asked if he'd axe a challenge he simply says: “Maybe.”
The Casa Amor twist isn't just memorable for fans as Maya Jama admits it stirred one of her most nerve-wracking moments while hosting the last series.
As she's asked which news she's most nervous about delivering host Maya, 28, spills: “When I feel sad for them so, like, at Casa Amor when I knew that well... I only knew two seconds before I went in that Tanya was going to come in with someone else – but then looking at Shaq’s face the whole time I just felt for him and he was so hopeful and looking forward to it.
“I couldn’t even look at him in the eye because I was like, ‘Oh no he’s gonna be heartbroken!’ I’ve gotta poker face the whole time!”
Love Island returns on Monday June 5 at 9pm on ITV2 and ITVX
