Love Island's Brad McClelland wins admiration of former stars including Amber Gill

Before the new series has even started, Love Island contestant Brad McClelland has earned a legion of fans including former winner Amber Gill.

On Monday, the Amble labourer was one of five boys to be confirmed on the Love Island 2021 line-up, ahead of the new series starting on Monday, June 28.

Talking about why he wanted to go on the show, the 26-year-old said: "I want to date face-to-face, I like meeting people. I’m easy going, laid back. Who wouldn’t want to be in a nice villa in a hot country for a while?"

You can still be on the new series of Love Island

Brad split with his long-term girlfriend before applying for Love Island and, on the subject of what type of girl he normally gores for, added: "Someone who doesn’t take themselves too seriously. I could not be with someone that’s constantly on your case.

"I’d say I like dark hair, dark skin, dark eyes. But then my ex-girlfriend who I was with for over 8 years was fair skinned, blue eyes, blonde hair."

Well, Brad already has scores of female admirers. Within days of him being confirmed for Love Island, his following on Instagram has shot up to well over 25,000 and among those who have left comments include Gateshead girl Amber, who triumphed in the 2019 series alongside short-lived love interest Greg O'Shea.

Commenting on a picture of Brad, single star Amber wrote: "He's beaut," while her friend and fellow 2019 Islander, Anna Vakili, reacted: "Too cuuute"

Other former Islanders whose eyes have been caught by Brad include Kady McDermott, who reached the final alongside Scott Thomas in 2016.

She made her feelings clear by responding "Hello" alongside a heart-eyed emoji.

At the time of writing, Brad was on odds of 4/1 to be the highest placed boy on Love Island 2021, with PE teacher and disabled cricketer Hugo Hammond the current favourite, with Scottish model Shannon Singh leads the way for the girls.
