Love Island's Andrew surprises girlfriend Tasha with a meaningful tattoo tribute

Andrew Le Page has shown his love for girlfriend Tasha Ghouri with a meaningful new tattoo.

The Love Island finalist has paid tribute to his dancer beau by getting a tattoo of a hand signing 'I love you' in British Sign Language, and holding Tasha's cochlear implant.

Tasha made Love Island history earlier this summer as the ITV2 show's first deaf contestant, and proudly wore her cochlear implant on screen during her time in the villa.

Taking to Twitter to share a snap of her boyfriend's new tattoo, Tasha proudly told her followers: "So Andrew came home and surprised me with his new tattoo, I actually can’t even!!!!!!! How beautiful it’s 'ily' in BSL with my cochlear implant wrapped around."

A cochlear implant is a small, complex electronic device that can assist in providing a sense of sound to a person who is profoundly deaf or severely hard-of-hearing. The implant consists of an external portion that rests behind the ear and a second portion that is surgically placed under the skin.

The reality TV star went on to add: "Also just to clarify * the ily is ASL but it is also used in BSL as it became more used - there is another way to sign ily in BSL which is what me and my dad did to each other when he came into the villa.

"But both can be used in bsl as I know both."

Fans loved Andrew's sweet gesture in the form of permanent body art, with one replying to Tasha's tweet saying: "Andrew is the best guy seriously.. Tasha if you leave this guy, I’ll find him and marry him."

Indiyah Polack, who reached the Love Island final with Dami Hope earlier this year, also approved of Andrew's new ink, telling her former villa housemate: "Oh wowwww [teary-eyed emojis]."

Shortly after finishing fourth in the live final of the ITV2 show, Andrew and Tasha headed to a tattoo parlour in August to get matching tattoos - with the dancer and model opting for a rose inking on the side of her neck, while Andrew got a matching rose on the back of his hand.

Speaking on her YouTube channel the same month, Tasha opened up about the pressure to "act a certain way because I wear a cochlear implant" throughout her time on Love Island, and her plans to use her platform to aid the deaf community going forward.

"Going into the show and really wanting to show people that just because you have a superpower, it doesn't define you - it's just part of something special that you have," the star explained to her fans.

"And coming out of the show and seeing some of the comments that people were saying about me, that I should act a certain way because I wear a cochlear implant because I'm deaf is so stereotypical."

"There is no certain way a deaf person should act ever," Tasha went on to add in her first YouTube video shared since leaving the show.

"It's just a part of who you are," she continued. "I'm human like everyone else and yeah...it was.... quite a few comments I saw. The thing is with me, you can have an opinion - a negative one - but never bring someone's superpower into it, because that's ableism and there was a lot of that."
