Love Island winner Amber Rose Gill has given an insight into her new relationship with Scots footballer Jen Beattie.
The couple, who recently made their red carpet debut, started dating six months ago before confirming their relationship on social media in February. Amber, 25, shot to fame on the 2019 series of Love Island which she won alongside Greg O'Shea before splitting shortly after the show ended.
Amber revealed she was bisexual in 2022, after talking about "switching teams" as she live-tweeted through last summer's Love Island. Fans noticed Amber and Jen, 31, leaving flirty comments on one another's social media posts before they confirmed the romance.
However, Amber has admitted that not everyone believes in her relationship with the Glasgow-born footballer but rubbished any 'fake' claims. Speaking to The Sun, she said: "Everybody was like 'we watched you date a man.'
"People didn't believe it. They don't want to believe it. It was so annoying! I think because I come from Love Island it's hard for people to think that I could go on a date with a woman. I don't know why - it's very closed minded."
She added: "I think the whole thing that I was doing it to stay relevant or that it's not real, or that it couldn't possibly be real, that's a bit depressing. But I can say I'm in a relationship with a girl now, she's so nice and I'm really happy - we met on Tik Tok - some people have said I'm a fake, but I can deal with that."
The couple have been going from strength to strength since the start of their relationship after flirting online.
A source told OK! Magazine: “Things are still fairly new but Amber is really smitten with Jen. Jen asked her out after speaking online and they hit it off straight away on their first date. It’s gone from strength to strength ever since."
They added: "They both have a lot of fun together and Amber is happier than ever.”
