Love Island's Adam Collard was 'thin-shamed' and pressured to bulk up

Love Island star Adam Collard opened up about being 'thin-shamed' and said he was pressured to bulk up.

The reality star, who is known for his muscley physique, appeared on Love Island for the second time over the summer.

Outside of showbiz, he works as a personal trainer at his SCULPT fitness centre. His Instagram is filled with photos of his physique and his training.

Adam explained he started getting into fitness when he was 16 years old.

"I stood out at school and got bad comments because I was tall and a bit overweight," the 27-year-old said.

“But thanks to that I have a little voice in my head that keeps me on track, but there really is a pressure to look a certain way.”

Despite his love of fitness, he still gets thin-shamed by those around him, including his stepmother.

He said comments about his size and weight 'can really get you down'.

“You don’t know what someone’s situation is so being called super skinny could affect them negatively, in the same way as being called super fat," he added to The Sun.

“It depends who you’re talking to but for some it could be a trigger for them.”

After appearing on Love Island this summer, he explained why he chose to return to the show.

"You are getting a few followers, if you have a business like me it’s going to help amplify that and that put you in a better situation and there’s going to be loads of really good opportunities afterwards," he said.

Adam added: "So yes, everyone comes on and says I am here to find love and that, yes you kind of are and obviously that is unreal but nobody is daft.

"Everyone has seen Molly-Mae absolutely smash the hell out of life and to be fair she has smashed the hell out of her relationship as well but even if you can get a little piece of that, if you have been in the villa for long enough, you know you are going to be pretty set up for life."

He coupled up with paramedic Paige Thorne but the two didn't last long as he was soon pictured with mystery women at different locations.
