Love Island return date 'announced' - and it's back in WEEKS

There's speculation that the summer edition of Love Island will launch in eight weeks, with ITV said to have already line-up the islanders who will be heading to the villa.

The ITV2 show concluded its winter edition last month, but it won't be long until it returns for its summer instalment which will be based in Majorca.

Fans will be eagerly awaiting the return of the show, which is a favourite of the summer schedule each year.

It's been claimed that the show will be back on our screens from June 5 for eight weeks, though the dates have yet to be confirmed by ITV.

According to the Sun, the new series is set to launch on June 5. A source further told the outlet that ITV have already lined-up the islanders who be taking part.

The source said: "[They] will fly out late next month ready for the show to begin in just eight weeks. It is hugely exciting and those working on the show cannot wait to get started."

It's been claimed that the series will run for eight weeks, meaning that those who reach the final could have been in the villa for two months.

The source added that host Maya - who took over from Laura Whitmore, , earlier this year - is "chomping at the bit to get to work" on the new series.

They further commented that her involvement with the ITV2 show has given it a "real boost," with the source saying that ratings are expected to "soar" in the summer series.

A source however has told the Mirror that dates have not yet been confirmed for the new series. They told us this afternoon: "The dates have not been officially confirmed."

Maya had previously suggested that she would return to host the upcoming summer edition of Love Island, after fronting the winter series which aired earlier this year.

Sharing photos from the behind-the-scenes, the TV presenter wrote in a post just last month: "[I had the] best time ever [and I] can't wait to do it all over in the summer".

The latest winter series was won by Kai Fagan and Sanam Harrinanan, both 24.
