Love Island relationships that will last – and those that won't, according to experts

Love Island season eight is coming to an end with the live final set to go ahead on Monday night.

For the past eight weeks, a whole host of singletons have been trying to form a connection in the villa for the chance to take home £50,000 in prize money. Now, just five couples remain.

Soon they'll all be leaving the villa and will have to face life on the outside world again.

All the current couples seem very loved-up, but which ones have actually found a genuine connection, and who is likely to stay together when the series comes to close?

We've spoken to relationship experts from So Synced, a dating app that matches compatible personality types.

After years of research, sisters Jess and Lou Alderson are convinced they've cracked the key to compatibility with their personality-led dating app, and have given us the low-down on what they think will happen to the Love Island couples outside the villa.

Tasha and Andrew

Tasha and Andrew have had a rocky romance throughout their time in the villa.

Tasha's head was almost turned a few times and Andrew was labelled a "snake" for his controversial actions with Coco Lodge in Casa Amor.

The pair haven't been popular with the public, but that has been changing recently and the So Synced sisters think that they could make it work outside the villa.

Lou told the Mirror: "We think Andrew and Tasha will stay together for a while and could even be one of the stronger couples on the show.

"The past couple of weeks has shown they are good together and they make each other happy. Andrew and Tasha have relaxed and come out of their shell more since being saved by the public. This has almost acted as a self-fulfilling prophecy and their relationship has flourished as a result."

During their time in the villa, Andrew and Tasha have been labelled as boring, but this might not matter.

"Despite not being the most exciting couple in many ways, they seem very content in each other's company. They have a lot in common and complement each other well," Lou added.

Gemma and Luca

Luca and Gemma could have an unhealthy relationship (ITV)

Gemma and Luca seemed to have a strong relationship during their time in the villa, but this took a turn recently when Luca accused her of "flirting" with Billy.

Luca was left fuming after Movie Night and the pair had an explosive row that viewers weren't happy about.

Despite the fall-out, Lou and Jess think that Gemma and Luca could stay together after Love Island, but that might not be a good thing.

Lou explained: "We believe that Gemma and Luca’s relationship could continue on the outside. However, we don’t see this being a healthy relationship.

"The behaviours exhibited by Luca in the past few weeks have shown him to be manipulative, jealous and controlling.

"His actions towards Gemma have been a glimpse into what life as a couple would be like outside the villa.

"We've seen countless times now that going back to reality for Love Island couples is a huge challenge. They have busy schedules, they party a lot, and they're thrust into the public eye.

"All of these things can put a strain on even the strongest relationships."

They think that Luca might not be able to handle life outside the villa with Gemma in the long-term.

Ekin-Su and Davide

Ekin-Su and Davide are the current favourites to win Love Island after their iconic enemies-to-lovers romance.

Their relationship might have been dramatic at times, but the pair could go the distance.

Lou said: "Davide and Ekin-Su have the potential to last. The genuine connection between these two is evident.

"They are definitely physically attracted to each other, but they also see beyond each other’s physical appearance."

Lou explained that Davide and Ekin-Su work so well because their personality types balance each other out, she said: "Ekin-Su is much more extroverted than Davide. Whilst Davide definitely does not lack confidence, he is clearly much more introverted.

Just two couples are likely to have happy relationships outside the villa – according to experts (ITV)

"In a relationship, both extroverts and introverts bring something valuable to the table. Extroverts help push introverts out of their comfort zone whilst introverts help keep extroverts grounded.

"This balance is what makes a relationship thrive and we see this with Davide and Ekin-Su, who bring out the best in each other. This is ideal for a long-lasting and happy relationship."

But there is still a risk to their relationship when it comes resolving arguments, the pair are notoriously stubborn so will need to work on their communication skills in the outside world.

Dami and Indiyah

Dami and Indiyah are unlikely to work on the outside world (ITV)

Dami and Indiyah caused a sensation when they started their romance following Amber and Ikenna's double dumping from the villa.

The public loved them and had been rooting for them until Casa Amor struck.

Since then, Dami has been criticised for his disloyal behaviour with the Casa Amor girls, as well as attitude towards Tasha.

While they were once the "it" couple of the villa, Lou and Jess don't think they'll make it outside.

They said: "Dami and Indiyah do make a great couple. However, there are already a few red flags from Dami’s time in Casa Amor and since then and we don’t see this couple lasting on the outside.

"Everyone thought they were one of the strongest couples going into Casa Amor and Dami instantly proved us wrong. The difference between Dami and Indiyah’s behaviour during Casa Amor showed a lack of respect and thought from Dami’s side."

They explained that red flags and practical logistics might mean their relationship is doomed to fail.

Lou said: "Dami expressed that he doesn’t like the word exclusive. This is a big red flag when someone doesn’t like 'labelling' a relationship, especially when they also tell you they love you. It shows they might not be taking the relationship seriously and that they might not be looking for something long-term.

She added: "Dami will also go back to Ireland while he plans his move to London. Trust can be an issue with long-distance relationships."

Paige and Adam

Paige and Adam might not be strong enough to make it work (ITV)

When Jacques made his shocking exit from the villa, Paige coupled up with bombshell Adam Collard.

Despite Paige's relationship with Jacques seeming serious, she's hit it off with Adam and during their final date she admitted that even if everyone was still in the villa, she'd choose him.

The pair have already discussed their future together, including introducing each other to their families, but will it actually work out? Lou and Jess don't think so.

The relationship experts explained: "We don’t see Paige and Adam having a lasting relationship on the outside. Paige and Adam have only known each other for two weeks and haven’t experienced any challenges like the rest of the couples on Love Island.

"They haven’t had any conflict or any new people to distract them from one another since Jacques left. Learning to deal with conflict is an important part of any relationship."

Adam had a controversial time during his last appearance on Love Island his genuineness has been questioned by fans this time around.

Like Dami and Indiyah, the pair could also hit a wall because of distance issues.

Lou said: "Paige brought up the issue of them living so far apart. Adam is in Newcastle and Paige is in Swansea and this distance could be a big challenge for them.

"Long-distance relationships are hard. You can't just hug each other when you're feeling sad or lonely and words can be miscommunicated much more easily.

"Paige and Adam will both have busy schedules upon leaving the villa and it doesn't feel like their connection is deep enough to withstand the challenges they will face."
