ITV2 dating series Love Island is officially the most complained about TV show of 2022 so far, it has been revealed.
Despite only being three quarters of the way into 2022, the year has already had its fair share of TV blunders, controversies and unforgettable dramas.
In fact, some particular moments on the small screen this year have left audiences feeling so flustered, that it's resulted in thousands of complaints being made to Ofcom for single shows alone.
Love Island 2022 comes out on top having received a total of 6001 complaints this year alone.
The popular reality show, which saw Ekin-Su and Davide win the £50,000 prize this year, received its most complaints - a total of 2481 - on the July 17 following the explosive ‘Movie Night’ episode.
Spin-off show, Love Island: Aftersun, came in at fourth place on the list as 427 complaints were lodged on the same date when host Laura Whitmore and the panellists discussed Ekin-Su's behaviour with bombshell George in Casa Amore.
But receiving way more complaints that Aftersun was breakfast programmes, Good Morning Britain and Jeremy Vine.
GMB landed a total of 1221 with the majority of these - 855 to be precise - stemming from February 15 when presenter Richard Madeley was accused of belittling the death threats made to Leader of the Opposition Sir Keir Starmer, which led to the influx of audience complaints.
Meanwhile, Jeremy Vine came under fire three times across the year with an unsettling 1038 complaints relating to episodes on January 24 and February 28.
Viewers apparently weren't happy with comments made by the presenter stating that Russian soldiers “probably deserve to die”, as well as a segment regarded as misinformation surrounding the Covid-19 vaccination.
GB News show Breakfast with Eamonn and Isabel came in at fifth place after receiving 402 Ofcom complaints, while Britain's Tourette Mystery: Scarlett Moffatt Investigates bagged 363.
Gogglebox slots in at seventh place with 217, while ITV lunchtime show Loose Women makes eighth place with 211 complaints.
This Morning, which is usually hosted by Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield, made it to ninth place with 163 complaints and ITV soap Emmerdale landed tenth place with 141 complaints.
According to Buzz Bingo, who scoured Ofcom for the numbers, the Emmerdale complaints were in relation to episodes spanning from January 12 until February 15 regarding serial killer Meena Jutla’s "far fetched" and "over the top" killer storyline.
