ITV2 received more than 200 complaints about Love Island in its first week of broadcast.
A total of 167 concerns were raised about the episode which aired on June 7 and the age gap between Gemma Owen, 19, and Davide Sanclimenti, 27.
The show in question was the one featuring a kiss between the pair.
A total of 93 complaints were made about the June 12 broadcast and most of these related to the ages of islanders.
Love Island has seen bumper viewing figures since it returned for its eighth series last Monday.
The audience for the launch was 5.0 million viewers across all devices (including catch up across TV, mobile, PC and tablet) up on last year by +0.2m, making it the highest launch since 2019.
Gemma - daughter of football legend Michael Owen - joined the show as part of the main 10 contestants, but soon Davide - who hails from Italy but lives in Manchester - caused quite a stir when he entered as a bombshell.
He seemed keen to get to know all the girls - but it was Gemma who caught his eye and soon they shared a kiss.
Gemma had first been partnered with Liam Llewellyn but Davide swooped in and stole the international dressage rider from the Welsh Masters student, and Liam was left single. After two failed dates, he quit the show - deciding it wasn't for him.
Meanwhile, Davide then moved on to Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu, whilst Gemma coupled up with Brighton fish seller, Luca Bish.
However, there was drama during last night's episode, when Gemma accidentally called Luca by her ex Jacques O'Neill's name, with the rugby player having entered the villa just a day or so before.
There was an almighty row between them as Gemma fumed to Luca over his "overreaction" of what she had said. He was understandably not happy that she had used the wrong name - especially when he was being affectionate with her.
Last night also saw Scots hunk Jay Younger enter the villa as one of two new bombshells.
During a chat before they coupled up with different partners, Davide and Gemma discussed their age gap.
"How are you feeling about the fact I'm much older than you?" Davide asked, "I mean you are not bothered by that?"
Gemma added: "It's not an issue for me at all. I feel like if it was, I wouldn't have wanted to get to know you in the first place. And as I've said, I've been speaking to guys and seeing guys who are much older than me.
"It's not something that I'm not used to or you're the only one or anything like that. It's very normal for me, so for me it's not an issue but I feel like for you, is it an issue?" to which Davide disagreed, saying he was fine with it.
