Love Island host Maya Jama 'worried' for contestant as fans raise also concerns

Maya Jama has owned up to an 'obsession' with one of this year's Love Island stars, Will Young, while also raising concerns about how things will go for him in the villa.

It took just minutes of former Walk the Line host Maya to appear on screen during Love Island's launch episode for viewers to declare her the 'perfect' presenters and since then they have called for her to be in the villa on a regular basis and get more airtime.

A big job came Maya's way at the end of her first week as Love Island anchor, when she had to host the first Aftersun of the new series. Love Island's sister show airs directly after the main episode on Sundays and Maya was joined by guests like I'm A Celebrity star Jordan North and Love Island 2022 couple Tasha and Andrew, as she mulled over the first week of action from South Africa.

And it was during a chat about what impression the new Islanders had made so far, that Maya admitted she had become very fond of farmer Will, who hadn't had much look with romance in his first week in the villa.

She commented: "Let's talk about Will, we love Will don't we?! He's so cute!"

Maya added: "But do we hope there will be any hope for Will on the romance section as at the moment he is riding the friend zone wave so hard!'"

Maya went on to discuss how new Aussie bombshell Jessie Wynter had made a beeline for Will and appeared to question her motives, remarking: "We all love Will and I think she might know that too because I'm not being funny he's very..."

Fans have raised similar concern to Maya about Jessie, with one tweeting: "Unpopular opinion but I think Jessie is playing Will like a violin and will move on at the first given chance" and another reacting: "Jessie is playing a game and I'm already sad for Will because he's so excited about her"
