Love Island was hit with a technical hitch just moments into the new series.
The winter edition of the show is back for the first time in a few years, with 10 new singletons looking to find love in the South African sun. For the girls, Tanya Manhenga, Lana Jenkins, Anna-May Robey, Tanyel Revan and Olivia Hawkins are all hoping to find the one.
The boys, Kai Fagan, Ron Hall, Will Young, Shaq Muhammad and Haris Namani were the first to enter the villa in a shake-up for the new series, as it is usually the girls who head into the villa first.
However, as fans sat down to watch the hotly-anticipated series, hosted by Maya Jama, they took to Twitter to fume over a technical hitch which made the picture disappear for a brief moment before it returned.
It happened as science and PE teacher Kai introduced himself to the viewers at home.
One wrote: "WTF HAPPENED TO THE SCREEN #loveisland," as a second added: "OMG DID ITV2 JUST DIE #LoveIsland."
A third viewer noticed the technical hitch and penned: "Anyone else’s ITV went weird?? #Loveisland."
In his pre-show interview, Kai said he was excited to find The One - and he's ready to find a connection.
"When you first meet someone you never normally get to spend that much time with them, so when you’re genuinely looking for a connection, the Villa is the perfect place to do it," he shared, "I’m pretty lighthearted, I love a laugh.
"I’m really calm and chilled as well, pretty level headed, quite mature… but not too mature. I’m caring, loving and impulsive so I’m always fun to be around. I’m always busy, I’m never sitting still. If you like to be busy too, then you can be busy with me."
Kai says he's been looking for the right girl for ages, as he has quite "high expectations".
He added: "I’m single by choice. I’m looking for the right girl. I feel like I have quite high expectations. I don’t feel I should commit to someone unless I’m absolutely buzzing over them, because it’s not fair on them."
