Love Island generates 466 Ofcom complaints over Luca's behaviour and 'rigged' final

This season of Love Island generated 466 Ofcom complaints during its final week, it has been confirmed.

The Office of Communications confirmed to The Mirror that the 286 complaints lodged on July 26 were in relation to contestant Luca Bish 's behaviour towards Gemma Owen. And the 180 complaints received in relation to the show's final on Monday, August 1 were mainly down to the fact that viewers were "upset" about which couples had made it to the final, and also fans complaining that the show was "rigged".

Luca and Gemma lost out on the prize money to Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu and Davide Sanclimenti following a public vote. Tasha Ghouri and Andrew Le Page and Dami Hope and Indiyah Polack also made it to the final.

Tasha and Andrew came in fourth place, while Dami and Indiyah took third place in the reality series. Love Island fans couldn't believe it on Monday when Dami and Indiyah were axed ahead of Gemma and Luca.

Taking to Twitter, one fan wrote: “Absolutely not, recount now,” as another tweeted: “WDYM INDIYAH AND DAMI WERE BELOW LUCA AND GEMMA? SHOW'S RIGGED.” “People really think Gemma and Luca have more chemistry than Dami, Indiyah, Andrew and Tasha??” another tweeted.

“Indiyah and Dami coming 3rd after Luca and Gemma...despite the fact that the nation has to have seen multiple red flags in the latter couple?! Make it make sense,” a fellow fan posted. Meanwhile, on July 26 were not impressed with how fishmonger Luca behaved during a discussion with 19-year-old Gemma.

During a row about the latest challenge, which saw Gemma lick Adam Collard's chest, Luca removed his microphone and stormed out of the villa. Before the drama, Gemma caught up with the girls and Ekin-Su said to her: "Was it me or was I seeing that Luca was being a bit weird? Like when he was... when you were dong your challenge."

Indiyah agreed, and told Gemma: "He was just a little bit of a baby." Gemma didn't seem happy about it, and responded to the girls: "It's really not that deep but if he's gonna be a pr**k over it, then he can do one."

Many viewers were not happy with how Luca acted during a heated discussion with Gemma Owen (ITV)

She then spoke to Luca and said: "You can sit here and say you're not in a mood... you're in a mood." Luca quipped back: "No, I'm not in a mood," to which Gemma replied: "Luca don't play thick." As he repeated: "Gem, I'm not in a mood," she replied: "You were pushing me off, had a face like a slapped a**... are you 12?!"
