It can sometimes be awkward meeting an ex at any given time. However at least you can beat a hasty retreat if things get too intense.
Spare a thought for Gemma Owen, 19, on Love Island, who came face-to-face with her ex on tonight's episode of the hit dating show. It was drama central when Jacques O'Neill, 23, made his appearance as the series' latest bombshell.
The action unfolded when single Islanders Afia, 25, and Paige, 24, received a text inviting them to the garden for a date with new arrival Jacques. He looked familiar to Gemma, who could tell something big was about to happen.

As some of the girls made their way to the terrace to try and get a look at the new boy, Gemma said: “I am not being funny but from the back of it, it looks like my ex.” When asked what she would do if it was her ex, Gemma replied: "I would f*****g die."
Paige was the first to head out on a date with Jacques as the other girls looked on from the terrace. It took Gemma a few minutes to realise it was indeed her ex who was in the villa.
She gasped: “Oh my god, no. That's my ex boyfriend.”
Before heading out on her date with him, Afia asked Gemma: “How long were you with him for?” Gemma replied: “Eight months.”
When asked when they broke up she added: “A year and a half ago.” Heading down to the garden, Afia met with Jacques and asked to know more about his relationship with former girlfriend Gemma.
A curious Afia asked: “Did it end amicably?” Jacques replied: “I wouldn’t say so, maybe not, I am not sure but we will have to find out won’t we?”
