Love Island: Former Islander Adam Collard returns to the villa to 'ruffle a few feathers' in shock twist

At the very end of last night's episode, Love Island fans were left with an excruciating cliff-hanger when narrator Iain Stirling revealed a new boy would be entering the villa tonight.

But while the new Islander is a fresh face for the 2022 cohort, fans of the show may recognise the bombshell as Adam Collard from series 4 - a shock twist that has never been done on the show before.

The hunk, who is now 26, initially found love in the villa four years ago with Zara McDermott. The pair split eight months after the show ended. Zara has since appeared on the reality television show Made In Chelsea with her now partner, Sam Thompson.

Of his explosive comeback Adam said: "I'm going to ruffle a few feathers when I go in."

The news comes as four contestants, Jay Younger, Chyna Mills, Dami Hope and Summer Botwe were revealed to have the fewest public votes, meaning they are at risk of being dumped from the island.

Viewers were quick to comment on the twist to the show that will no doubt throw a spanner in the works.

@oth_2001 said: " ADAM IS BACK??? I Freaking love this season #LoveIsland", while @jadebuckleyxo also said: "I’m so shook they’re bringing an old Islander back. And of all the Islander it has to be Adam Collard this year the producers are choosing chaos #LoveIsland".

Another Twitter user wrote of the twist: "Adam being back is the love island version of multiverse of madness #loveisland."

Love Island continues tonight at 9pm on ITV2 and ITV Hub. Episodes are available the following morning on BritBox
