Love Island favourite to be confronted by his past as ex enters villa as bombshell

There's a nasty surprise in store for former Love Island favourite Jay Younger with his ex-girlfriend 'confirmed' as the latest bombshell.

Malissa Nicol is set to join the ITV2 dating show within the next few days - and the 2022 contestant will no doubt have big concerns.

His former lover has had plenty to say about her time with the investment analyst when he was in the villa a year ago - and none of it good.

She likened him to the psychotic serial killer Joe Goldberg from Netflix's You after dumping her out of the blue.

Jay's brother waded in on the "hurtful" comments with a complete denial and now the family must wait to see if she has anything else to say.

The hunky Scotsman couldn't find romance on last summer's show despite snogging Ekin-Su Culculoglu.

He appears to have moved on from the programme after his stint, going back to his day job in his hometown of Edinburgh.

But he may feel he has to turn in after her scathing comments last year.

“Apart from being party to Ekin-Su’s crawl, Jay didn’t make much of a splash in the villa," a source told The Sun. "But outside was a different story, with his love life exploding for all to see.

“Seeing Mal on Love Island will likely be a lot for Jay. She’s genuinely moved on, though, and doesn’t see going on the show as any kind of revenge or power move."

They added that Mal is "gorgeous" and the "life of the party" and just wants her chance at finding love.

She made the attack last year, calling it the "most intense experience of her life".

She told the Sun : "It was traumatising. I didn't recognise him. I was looking at him and did not see him at all. It was horrible.

"I don't want to experience anything like that again. It was brutal."

Jay's brother denied that he was as she described, slamming the comments when he was unable to respond.

"It is very hurtful to see others mischaracterise Jay and label him with defamatory, unkind remarks that he has no ability to respond to right now," he said.

"Everything here is completely inaccurate. We're looking forward to Jay showing viewers the kind, funny and intelligent guy his friends and family know and love."

Speaking in an exclusive interview with The Mirror last August, Jay explained: "I don't think my life will change that much if I'm being honest.

"I'm going back to work on Monday and sure there's some commercial opportunities out there in the short term, but I think longer term I'll be back at work doing my thing and back to my day job."

Asked what his colleagues made of his stint on the show, he replied: "I think they're just happy that I've come out unscathed and I'm alright, and then hopefully I can start working hard and producing good work for them and then they'll judge me on that!"
