Love Island fans slam show as they accuse producers of 'hiding star's real side'

Love Island viewers have accused the producers of the ITV2 reality show of ‘cutting’ scenes of Lana Jenkins from the main show.

The 25-year-old makeup artist featured prominently in the latest episode of Saturday evening’s Love Island : Unseen Bits and many noticed Lana was coming across differently in the casual spin-off episode.

The cheeky scenes saw the star spinning riddles for her fellow contestants and plotting end-of-the-world moves with her fellow Islanders in previously unseen action from inside the villa.

Following the scenes on ITV2, viewers took to Twitter in their droves to bemoan Lana’s somewhat drier depiction in the regular episodes.

Love Island fans said producers had not given Lana, who's currently in a relationship with Ron Hall, 25, a fair edit reflecting her personality.

One fan wrote: "These producers are hiding the real Lana and her personality from us."

Another said: "Lana is so much better on unseen bits,” and a third commented: "Lana is hilarious and it’s an actual crime we don’t see that in the main show."

Meanwhile, a fourth noted: "Lana is so hilarious and it’s a shame we don’t really see a fun side of her on the main show."

A fifth exclaimed: "Lana has a personality it’s literally being hidden. They need to incorporate more natural funny moments on the main show instead of the scripted."

It comes after Love Island was hit with hundreds more Ofcom complaints this week, fresh off the back of the Casa Amor havoc and the fallout of Movie Night.

The programme received 266 complaints for its show on February 23rd and a further 71 complaints for the episode on February 22nd. On February 23rd, the majority of complaints were about Tanya’s behaviour towards Shaq and Olivia’s behaviour towards Kai.

For the episode on February 22nd, most complaints were about Olivia's behaviour and treatment of Kai, whilst others expressed their concern for Will's mental health as the fallout from Movie Night began.

A men's domestic abuse charity is said to have voiced concerns regarding the female Love Island star’s behaviour towards the male contestants in the South African villa.

Mankind Initiative has reportedly highlighted the ‘gaslighting and manipulation’ towards the men on the ITV2 reality show in recent scenes, as tempers flared in the wake of the Casa Amor twist.

Mankind Initiative has called on show bosses to ensure the show is offering the same duty of care they would to female contestants, following a toxic masculinity row last summer.
