Jay Youngers told Chyna Mills he just wants to be friends on Friday night's Love Island, in a move that has puzzled viewers and has left some convinced he's set his sights once more on Paige Thorne.
The 28-year-old had picked to recouple up with Chyna rather than stick with Danica, after the original girls left for Casa Amor.
The pair shared a kiss in bed and Jay seemed confident with his choice during last night's explosive episode.
However his mood seemed to have changed the next day, and Chyna expressed her concern to fellow new girls Coco and Summer, as he didn't touch her when they shared a bed.
Viewers then saw Jay talk to the boys about his misgivings over Chyna, saying he didn't want to be in a couple for the sake of it and he didn't feel like himself.
Later on, viewers saw Jay tell the bombshell they were "good together as friends", and "I feel I want to continue as friends in that way." Chyna appeared to talk the news calmly.
Meanwhile, Paige raged at Jacques' behaviour while she was in Casa Amor, during which he kissed Cheyenne.
Paige and Jacques seemed like they were in a secure couple, but now Paige is querying whether she wants to continue to get to know him.
Now many viewers on Twitter think Jay has ditched Chyna so he can once more pursue the Welsh beauty.
Jay had previously told Paige he was interested in her and recoupled with the paramedic, but he backed off when she said she was focussed on Jacques.
One person on Twitter said: "JAY ONLY HAS EYES FOR PAIGE."

There was plenty of drama elsewhere in the show where Andrew told Coco, who he recoupled with last night, that he was still interested in Tasha, and friend-zoned her for the time being.
Pulling the bombshell graphic designer for a chat, he said: "I’m gonna be completely honest with you and how I’m feeling as well. Just at the moment with Tasha being on my mind I feel like I don’t wanna lie to you and I don’t wanna say something to you if I don’t mean it yet. So for me, I do wanna continue getting to know you of course…"
Coco then interrupted: "But you just wanna do it really slowly?"
Andrew agreed: "Just take a step back until my mind has cleared or whatever happens, happens."
Tonight descended into further chaos when Tasha found out that Coco and Andrew had got a lot closer in bed than he had told her.
