Love Island viewers were rubbing their hands with glee on Thursday night as they watched jealousy among the boys boil over into a full-blown argument. A seemingly innocent game of alcohol-free beer pong which saw the islanders snogging, licking and nibbling each other apparently lit the fuse for an almighty row later that evening.
Fans of the ITV2 show on Twitter were delighted as a previously good-natured chat among the boys blew up out of nowhere into a seriously heated argument. It seemed to reignite viewers' love for the reality show which, up to that point, many felt had got off to a fairly slow start.
As the girls and boys went their separate ways for group chats at the end of the night, Olivia was unhappy that Zara had suggested she was two-faced. But it was the boys who got the most heated.
Harris and Shaq almost came to blows as the latter accused the former of stirring. The other boys had to quickly step in and separate the pair before things got out of hand.
The argument sent pulses racing on social media as fans took to Twitter to register their shock at how quickly the row ignited. "I looked away for two seconds and they are fighting," wrote afro.queen.
Modupe K Raji agreed, saying: "Who else needs a replay... what just happened between the boys"
Twitter user lewys was of the opinion that the new series is finally getting interesting. He wrote: "this episode was much better, producers deffo said no food until you lit do something & i’m not complaining"
Writer Jason Okundaye was puzzled by how the argument started. He commented: "I need to rewind because I proper don’t understand why they started sparking? I don’t even understand who Shaq was angry at, I thought it was David but then Haris started shouting??"
One fan even wondered if the beer pong drinks actually did contain alcohol. Chigglet joked: "Love island producers realising they accidentally poured the real prosecco instead of the shloer"
Meanwhile, emma couldn't wait for the next episode to see the fallout of the big argument. "Episode had to end just as it was getting good, not even a preview to the next one…," she decried.
Isabel was in agreement, adding: "THIS IS WHAT WE HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR !!!!"
