Love Island fans fume at Islanders ‘targeting’ Ron as they spot villa ‘bullies’

Love Island fans were left calling out a number of the contestants for ganging up on Ron Hall in the Sunday evening episode, which saw the South African villa explode in fresh drama.

The Islanders were playing Chinese Whispers throughout the hour-long instalment, as Ron’s comments early in the show came back to bite him.

The scenes came hot on the heels of the A Couple of Sorts challenge on Friday evening, which saw the couples rank each other and proved a fraught affair.

During the challenge, Shaq queried whether Ron only made Lana his girlfriend because everyone likes her.

The suggestion prompted Ron to discuss the challenge and accusations of game playing, as he spoke at the mini fire pit about his experience of watching Love Island as a viewer.

He said: “I thought the ones who have their drama nice and early and then get comfy and treat it like a holiday, they’re the ones who are probably like, they just cruise.

“I can see why people probably thought, ‘Oh Lana and Ron are just cruising through.’ I’m not bothered by any of that.

“As I know I’m not, otherwise I never would have made her my girlfriend, it means too much to me.”

The comments prompted a wildfire of gossip in the sunny climes of the South African villa, as Samie admitted she had taken Ron’s comments as an admission of his ‘game plan’ on the show.

As the comments then prompted a villa ‘divide’, many Love Island viewers on Twitter called out the three couples Tom and Samie, Will and Jessie and Casey and Rosie for ganging up on Ron.

One tweeted: “They are bullying Ron now stop it,” as another wrote: “It’s genuinely a new person they gang up on every week and they've made their way around back to Ron again.”

“These lot are such bad vibes the way they just pick on one person to hate on and everyone else just follows along lol it’s like they’re school kids,” another fan echoed.

Another fan concluded: “I get that Ron does some annoying things sometimes but the way the entire villa is constantly targeting him is weird and obsessive.”

Another added: “I'm confused as why is everyone coming for Lana and Ron so much.”

As Rosie then compounded the situation by repeated advice Ron had given her to Casey with a slightly more negative spin, another tweeted: “I’ve never been a fan of Ron but this is ridiculous, I actually feel really bad for him right now, Rosie is twisting his words so much.”

Love Island airs every night at 9pm on ITV2 and ITV Hub.
