Love Island fans convinced Molly 'is ITV plant' after reference to past series

Love Island viewers are "convinced" Islander Molly Marsh is a "plant" who ITV have placed in the villa for the latest series.

Fans are convinced she is linked to ITV or someone connected to the show, and two recent scenes "sealed" things for them.

Molly arrived with the other girls and boys at the start of the current series at the beginning of June.

But it was revealed prior to this that her mother had made appearances in a soap, and social media creator Molly has promoted ITV shows on her Instagram - while she's reportedly already bagged a huge fashion deal.

From a visit to an Emmerdale press day, to her being invited to tour the South African villa for the winter series in January, Molly appears to have connections to ITV - or has just been asked to help promote shows.

But viewers are convinced she's in the industry, and two recent scenes left fans speculating about her true reasons for doing the show.

Molly was heard mentioning the yellow bean bag curse which was first brought up on the last summer series a year ago, while it was then brought up again in the winter version in January.

While it's not exactly odd for Molly to know about the yellow bean bag 'curse', it hasn't stopped fans thinking she knew about it because of her possible connections to the show.

Another thing that has convinced fans is her friendship with new arrival Leah, which she exposed on Monday night.

The fact Leah and Molly know each other and she's friends with past contestant Maura Higgins, has left fans convinced it's all set-up.

Taking to Twitter, one fan said: "Lol molly the loveisland plant even knows about the yellow bean bag."

Another fan said: "Molly mentioning yellow beanbag...she studied the show cos she's a plant."

A third fan tweeted: "After going through Molly’s Instagram, she’s 100% a industry plant," while a fourth said: "molly is a production plant and you can’t convince me otherwise."

The comments kept on coming too, with one reading: "Molly and Leah are literally friends….this show isn’t even trying to hide their plants anymore."

Another tweeted: "Molly’s an industry plant btw, she’s done work with ITV for love island before."

It comes as Love Island viewers are set to be in for a huge surprise, it has been reported, with one of the show's most popular Islanders being dumped.

"Viewers are in for an absolute treat when one of the villa's stars is dumped," the TV insider revealed.

"Bosses are determined to keep the drama coming and this is a departure none of them saw coming," they added to The Sun.

The islander in question is said to have already left the villa, with the unexpected scenes airing either on Tuesday or on Wednesday.

On Monday night, the show welcomed two new bombshells - social media marketer Leah and dental nurse Charlotte - who were both hoping to woo some of the boys away from their current partners.

Leah chose three guys to date whilst Charlotte also picked three and both seemed to have the same type in men as they picked Molly's current love interest Zachariah and her former love interest Mitchel to cook for them.

Molly seemed unimpressed when Leah walked into the villa as she watched from the terrace, before remarking that they were friends and knew each other outside the villa. However, the look on her face made it seem as though were not on the best of terms.

Speaking ahead of her arrival in the villa, Leah said: "I’ve realised through past experiences exactly what I want in life when it comes to love. I’m ready to find it now and I’m not going to wait around. I've figured out what it is that I look for in a person, which means my bar is set really high.

"I would say I honestly have so much love to give and being in love is the best thing you can ever experience. I’m ready for everything that comes with it and the hardships you have to go through in order to make that commitment and find the one."

Love Island airs every night at 9pm on ITV2 and ITVX.
