Love Island fans have been left convinced that Gemma Owen could have her head turned on the ITV2 dating show after she shared a flirty chat with Jay Younger.
The 19-year-old was sat on the sun lounger chatting to the investment analyst during Tuesday night’s episode and he floated the idea of exploring his options.
Jay asked Gemma whether any of the other contestants would be open to “getting to know” him, if he weren’t coupled up with Ekin-Su Cülcüloglu.
Gemma then smirked coyly and replied: “I don't know,” leaving fans certain she thought Jay was referring to herself.
Jay replied: “Don't tell me what I want to hear. Just tell me what you think, because I have a feeling.”
Gemmed replied: “What feeling do you have?” and the pair giggled as Jay replied: “No, ladies first. I asked you first.”
Gemma teased: “You're just trying to get information out of me. Who do you think would?”
The equestrian dancer then seemed less enthusiastic as he turned to Paige Thorne and said he was interested in her.
The moment left several viewers in stitches as it seemed Gemma had mistaken Jay’s line of questioning for flirtation.
Talking to Twitter, one wrote: “Gemma deffo thought Jay was referring to her when he asked if anyone was interested. Bit embarrassing.”
Another tweeted: “LMFAO I’m SUREEEEEEE Gemma thought Jay was gonna say her then when he said Paige her smile turned upside down!!” alongside a string of crying laughing emojis.
“Gemma defo thought Jay meant her when he asked who was interested in him,” one said as another wrote: “Loooool Gemma fully thought Jay was coming on to her, that was poetry.”
But other viewers thought the moment indicated Gemma could be interested in pursuing romance with other islanders, beyond Luca Bish who she is currently coupled up with.
One wrote: “Gemma's crumbling around Jay. Luca needs to leave her alone, this girl doesn't like him,” alongside a crying emoji.
“Sorry but that convo between Gemma and Jay? That’s the most animated I’ve seen her. SHE LIKES HIM,” another concluded.
Another wrote: “I low-key think Gemma wants Jay.”
After Luca has sent several nights sleeping alone to avoid sharing a bed with Danica while Gemma has happily slept with Davide, some were certain she’s not wholly committed.
One tweeted: “Luca sleeping outside on his own speaks volumes. Does Gemma actually like him?!”
A second wrote: “Instead of Luca to focus on the fact that his supposed woman is STILL leaving him to sleep outside by himself, he’s stirring the pot. Misplaced priorities.”
“Luca is annoying. He actually needs to worry about why Gemma is still sleeping in Davide's bed, instead of joining him outside,” a third put.
