Love Island fans 'already sick' of Laura Whitmore after debut episode

Love Island viewers were immediately 'sick' of Laura Whitmore due to a certain presenting habit she had during the first episode.

After months of anticipation, the ITV2 series finally returned to our screens on Monday night as contestants coupled up in hopes of finding love.

However, in a new twist, the public got to 'play Cupid' and choose which girl paired up with which man.

Fans noticed that presenter Laura - who is married to voiceover star Iain Stirling - had the habit of repeating the 'twist' to the contestants every few moments.

"This year we've taken the decision out of your hands," she told Ikenna before continuing: "And placed it in the hands of the public.

"So you can see we've two couples already, Gemma and Liam and Amber and Dami."

She later went on to tell real estate agent Andrew: "We've given the decision of who you couple up with the public."

Viewers immediately took to Twitter to share their frustrations over her tendency to repeat certain parts.

"Absolutely sick of Laura repeating herself explaining the 'twist'. Couldn't they just send everyone an email #LoveIsland," one annoyed user posted.

Another miffed fan added: "Nothing more fun that Laura repeating that the public decided the pairings five bloody times. It's all lacking in any energy?! #LoveIsland."

"So they’re gonna have laura repeating this 3 more times?" one said while another added: "It would have saved time to get the boys out all at once so Laura didn’t have to keep repeating herself."

Fans were annoyed by it and shared their thoughts on Twitter (ITV)

Many viewers were confused by the shock twist as they couldn't figure out when Love Island asked the public to pick the couples.

Some took to social media to question: "#LoveIsland When was the public asked??"

Another shared the same question, writing: "We asked the public"... I don't remember being consulted @LoveIsland #LoveIsland."

A third also quote tweeted the user, saying: "No for real because i must’ve missed the assignment…."

However, some fans referenced the fact they were able to cast their vote via the app and found out via TikTok.

While this was the case, many still weren't impressed with the new style of matchmaking and pleaded with the show's bosses to scrap the idea going forward.
