Love Island confirms two famous challenges will return before next week's final

Love Island has confirmed the return of a famous challenge ahead of the show's final episode. Love Island will end on Monday, August 1 but not before the remaining contestants take part in a task.

Speaking on Love Island's Sunday spin-off show, which is called Love Island: Aftersun, host Laura Whitmore announced the baby challenge will take place in a matter of days.

The task sees the remaining couples take care of a realistic doll, which cries and needs feeding and changing, to see how they cope as parents together. During the episode that aired on Sunday, July 24 Laura spoke to former contestant Chris Hughes, who appeared on the show in 2017.

"We're about to head into the last week, it's a big one, you know that... what's it like to get to the last week," Laura said. "And I can exclusively reveal that the baby challenge is back! It's a huge moment. Just how difficult is it?"

Chris replied: "Oh it's brutal, but to be fair I actually had a genuine connection with Cash and that was the thing, and I have still got him.

"The mad, weird thing is is he's at my parent's house, I remember I stole Cash, I wasn't meant to but I thought, 'there's no way I'm letting this baby go back into production.'"

It comes after a teaser trailer for the episode on Monday, July 25 confirmed the talent show would be returning for 2022. In the short clip, Indiyah could be seen screaming at the top of her lungs after receiving a text message to tell the islanders to start practising their skills as they will need to put them to the test around the fire-pit.

Love Island fans rejoiced at the confirmation, with one writing: "Yes @LoveIsland #aftersun for confirming the baby challenge will be back, and the talent show tomorrow night. This week will be good!"

While another added: "I cannot wait for the baby challenge this year!!!! #LoveIsland," and athird said: "Yayyy the baby challenge is this week."

Not everyone was impressed though, with one person stating: "@LoveIsland please please don't do the baby challenge. So predictable and boring now. Change it up a bit, do something different."

While another added: "Two of the most boring challenges. Baby and Talent show. Bring back what the public think and who said what. You are making the last week so boring."

Love Island continues at 9pm on ITV2 and ITV Hub. Episodes are available the following morning on BritBox. For more showbiz and television stories get our newsletter here.
