Love Island bosses says finding love is 'not a simple thing' as they discuss Jacques' exit

Love Island bosses said finding love is 'not a simple thing' as they discussed Jacques O'Neill's exit from the show.

The rugby player made an emotional exit from the Mallorcan villa earlier this week after a tumultuous couple of days.

After getting angry over claims bombshell Adam Collard had been "s***ging him off", he took Paige Thorne up to the terrace and shared his decision to leave – although some fans suspect he was asked to leave the show.

Tensions were already high after Paige heard about a connection he had with a bombshell in Casa Amor.

Speaking about Jacques' exit from the show, Love Island boss Mike Spencer said that 'sometimes you have to think about yourself'.

Speaking to Deadline, he explained: "When you date, your emotions are naturally up and down. Finding love is not a simple thing, that’s why the show is so relatable.

"Jacques was on his own journey and he had a strong connection with Paige [Thorne] but sometimes you have to think about yourself and that's what Jacques did.

"We respected his decision to head home but I think he’s excited to be on Aftersun on Sunday to discuss his journey.

"All the contestants are adults. We speak to the families of the Islanders every day. They have a point of contact and they’re updated every day.

He went on to reveal how they never 'had parents' ask them to pull their children out of the show.

When Jacques was making his decision to leave, he spoke to Paige and became overwhelmed with emotion as he tearfully explained: "I just wish I could finish my journey off with you her but I'm going to go home today."

He recently said he couldn't 'cope' in the villa (ITV)

Jacques then said his goodbyes to his fellow Islanders, including close pal Luca Bish, and left with a suitcase in hand.

He recently opened up about his decision to leave the villa and said the show 'broke' him and that he 'couldn't cope' with life in the villa.

Revealing he was "sobbing" constantly and that he "got in a rut", Jacques opened up about his ADHD and said doing the series was "the worst decision of his life".

Speaking to The Sun in his first interview, Jacques explained: "I was ready to break down. I was feeling so mentally drained, I just wanted to go home and get myself right.
