Love Island producers have reportedly confirmed that the fan favourite Twitter challenge will not be returning to the ITV2 dating show this year, despite an apparent hint over the weekend.
The Online Buzz Twitter challenge sees the Islanders given tweets from ITV2 viewers and asks them to guess the names.
The challenge has previously created explosive scenes in the villa as the Love Island contestants learn the truth behind certain situations.
Over the weekend Love Island fans believed they had spotted a clue the challenge could soon be returning to screens, when the show’s official Twitter account added a disclaimer to its bio.
The disclaimer read: “Tweets and comments may be used on social incl. your name and/or twitter handle.”
However, Love Island will reportedly not feature the popular challenge in the eight series, despite demand from eager fans of the show.
A source told The Sun : “As we’ve already seen, not every game is repeated year on year. Just because a challenge was part of the format for a couple of series doesn’t mean it’s here to stay.
“Producers always try and keep things fresh or respond to feedback, for example with removing food challenges.”
The Online Buzz game was last seen in 2019, when a string of tweets were used, one of which claimed Molly-Mae Hague was only dating Tommy Fury on the show because she was after the £50,000 prize.
This comes after Love Island host Laura Whitmore has confirmed that the baby challenge will return in a matter of days.
The hilarious task sees the remaining couples tasked with taking care of a realistic doll, which cries and needs feeding and changing, to see how they cope as parents together.
During Sunday's episode of Love Island Aftersun, host Laura spoke to former Islander Chris Hughes about his time on the reality show five years ago.
"We're about to head into the last week, it's a big one, you know that... what's it like to get to the last week," Laura said.
"And I can exclusively reveal that the baby challenge is back!" she continued, before adding: "It's a huge moment. Just how difficult is it?"
Chris replied: "Oh it's brutal, but to be fair I actually had a genuine connection with Cash and that was the thing, and I have still got him.
"The mad, weird thing is, he's at my parent's house, I remember I stole Cash, I wasn't meant to but I thought, 'there's no way I'm letting this baby go back into production'," Chris admitted as Laura laughed.
