Love Island airs savage dumping as Mehdi and Mal axed from villa without warning

Love Island aired another savage dumping twist on Tuesday night, as the Islanders learned some big news - resulting in more tears.

After viewers were tasked with voting for their favourite boys and girls on Monday night, the results were announced on Tuesday and two stars left the villa.

It was confirmed two people would be booted out, with one boy and one girl getting the chop.

After all Islanders were gathered around the fire pit, some of the Islanders began receiving texts confirming those who would be leaving.

The Islanders discovered that two of them would be going home immediately, and the decision was announced via text message.

Zachariah had to announce which girl was going home, and Leah was tasked with reading out the name of the dumped boy.

The axed girl was newcomer Mal Nicol, and the axed boy was original Islander Mehdi Edno - leaving the Islanders reeling and his partner Whitney in shock.

None of the Islanders had known in advance that an exit was looming, and host Maya Jama did not return to the villa to host proceedings.

Instead they all had to wait to hear their fates via their phones, and as Mal's exit was announced she shared she was fine, as she said goodbye to her current partner Sammy.

Mehdi's exit came as a huge shock to the group given he had been there since day one, and was in a pairing with Whitney for weeks.

Viewers had been left unimpressed by his treatment of her in recent episodes, but it seemed the pair did genuinely like each other.

As they had a final goodbye, Whitney was in tears and Mehdi urged her to enjoy her time in the villa and focus on herself, not wanting her to worry about him.

He also told her she could go to France with him once she was out of the villa, hinting it wasn't over for the two of them.

It follows the shocking dumping of Molly Marsh just days ago, in an elimination no one saw coming.

As former Islander and series two star Kady McDermott returned to the villa for a second stint, she was tasked with picking a guy to steal from another girl.

Kady had barely been in the villa for a day, making the decision pretty tough. Kady ended up choosing Zachariah who was paired up with Molly, leaving them both and the other Islanders stunned.

But a bigger twist came when Molly suddenly received a famous text message, and as she began to read it out all became clear.

In the text she learned she was now single, and that as a result she would be dumped from the island immediately.

As she read the words aloud and in shock, her co-stars all gasped as they realised Molly was leaving the show.

Molly burst into tears as she was told to say her goodbyes and pack up her things, while Kady was left feeling awful about the whole thing.

As she told Molly she was sorry, the other Islanders embraced the tearful contestant before she had some alone time with Zach.

As Molly cried the pair hugged it out and she soon left the villa for good, despite fans being convinced she may return.

Love Island airs every night at 9pm on ITV2 and ITVX.
