The Love Island final was a closer run contest that many people predicted, although Shaq and Tanya were rock bottom, having got just 2% of the public vote, following a backlash against them from viewers.
After two months of having many viewers tuning into ITV2 every night of the week to catch up on all the latest goings on in the South African villa, the latest series of the dating show drew to a close as Maya Jama hosted the live finale from the villa.
Throughout the 95 minute episode, Love Island fans were treated to scenes of the final couples reading out their love letters to each other, as well as being given a dance lesson ahead of the final night ball. And, once all of the remaining highlights were shown, there was the real business of crowning winners to be taken care of.

Shaq and Tanya, early frontrunners before her actions in Casa Amor, were ruled out first in fourth, before Samie and Tom bowed out in third and new champions Kai and Sanam beat Ron and Lana in the final reckoning. Bookies had Kai and Sanam as the clear favourites ahead of their coronation, but the result wasn't as clear cut as they forecast.
Kai and Sanam sealed victory with 44% of the vote, ahead of Ron and Lana on 30%. The gap between second and third was closer, as Tom and Samie finished on 24%, well ahead of Shaq and Tanya on 2%, the lowest ever stat for a couple in the final.
While they were big favourites in the first few weeks, the wheels fell of Shag and Tanya's hopes of winning Love Island after she shockingly moved on with Martin in Casa Amor and she and Shaq both took swipes at Kai and Sanam and Ron and Lana in the final weeks of the series.
While Kai and Sanam's win was pretty conclusive, their winning margin pales in comparison to the 63.69% Ekin-Su and Davide got when they won Love Island last summer.
