Love Island 2023 viewers share same Casa Amor theory after episode ends abruptly

It's been a pretty wild week on Love Island. The past few episodes have seen the arrival of season two bombshell Kady McDermott and the shock dumping of Molly Marsh. Just days later Mal Nicol and Mehdi Edno were axed following a public vote leaving Sammy Root and Whitney Adebayo unexpectedly single.

So it came as quite a surprise to ITV viewers when the episode that aired on Wednesday, June 28, was pretty much drama-free, with newly-single contestants Sammy and Whitney cooking up a meal for the couples to enjoy a date night.

What's more the episode failed to air a "tomorrow night" trailer, which has led many to believe Casa Amor, the show's biggest challenge, is on the horizon. Taking to Twitter one fan theorised: "The week without previews is always the Casa week."

"Why did it end so abruptly??" quizzed a second, while another echoed: "Y'all this episode and the episodes to come are just the calm before the storm that is Casa Amor."

And a third commented: "Now imagine if this was a filler episode to get us ready for casa amor tomorrow… HOLD ONNN."

While a fourth said: "That was so abrupt the producers really aren’t giving us small previews anymore."

Others were at peace with the calm, as one social media user shared: "Sorry this season has been so strong I'm not gonna be mad about a filler ep."

While ITV bosses are yet to share details on this year's Casa Amor, it often happens halfway through the series and typically sees the introduction of a brand new line-up with six new boys and six new girls joining the show with the aim of ruffling feathers and tempting the contestants away from their current relationships.

The new contestants, like the original Islanders, are separated into two villas. Usually the girls remain in the original villa, where they are joined by six new boys, and the boys are sent to Casa Amor, where they will meet six new girls.

Each year dramatic scenes unfold as couples are tested and new love is found. After a few days the Islanders must choose to stick with their current partner or choose to couple up with a new contestant without knowing what their other half has decided.

Love Island continues at 9pm on ITV2 and ITVX. For more showbiz and television stories get our newsletter here.
