Love Island 2023 viewers call out Movie Night after episode is not what they expected

Love Island viewers have been left disappointed after the latest episode of the ITV2 dating show failed to deliver a complete Movie Night. Tuesday’s, February 21 episode concluded with a teaser trailer for the annual episode with many excited for what was in store.

In previous seasons, secret conversations and unannounced kisses have been shown, usually leading to drama among the contestants. Viewers had been excited to see several explosive moments play out on the big screen.

What they actually got, however, was two movies that both played 15 minutes before the end of the show. The first casualties of Movie Night were Casey O’Gorman and Tanya Manhenga, whose secret antics were shown to the villa.

As the episode came to a close, Tanya and partner Shaq Muhammad were left clashing over her Casa Amor kiss with Martin Akinola. "I knew you were looking nervous for a reason," Shaq told Tanya following the film, which was called 'Catch Me If You Tan'.

"I'm not nervous, honey," Tanya said, defending her actions. "You're quick to jump on the bandwagon but you're not looking at yourself," quipped Shaq in response. Tanya then replied: "I told you about my kiss. What the f*** do you want me to tell you?"

No sooner than the second film had been played, the screen cut to black and Iain Stirling's iconic "tomorrow night" voiceover could be heard. The trailer for Thursday's, February 23 episode teased Jessie Wynter's upset as she found out what partner Will Young had been getting up to whilst she was at Casa Amor.

Following the end of the episode, viewers expressed their feelings on social media. "It's past my bedtime... I stayed up for Movie Night," wrote one person, who was left disappointed.

In a similar vein, a second said: "So basically tomorrow is Movie Night?!" And a third echoed: "This is false advertisement btw. the whole first look was the Movie Night and we're getting it in the last 10 minutes?"

A fourth commented: "Nah don't call it Movie Night if you're going to make me wait for pt 2". As a further person fumed: “Hardly movie night, 10 minutes at the end ffs."
