Love Island 2023 start date announced as Maya Jama returns as host of ITV show

Love Island is coming back to ITV and the start date is sooner than fans might expect, as the new series will start in just a matter of weeks.

It might have only been a matter of months since Kai and Sanam were crowned the latest champions of the long running ITV dating show, but it will soon will back on screens and back in its usual stomping ground of Mallorca.

And, having made her debut as Love Island presenter in January, Maya Jama is back on hosting duties, An early ITV teaser for the new series reads: "The Islanders must do their best to flirt, date and couple up in a bid to avoid being ‘dumped’ from the Island. With new arrivals, heads may turn, while others will prove their true feelings. From romance and heart-to-hearts, to betrayal, bombshells and broken hearts, there’s never a dull moment in the ultimate search for love"

It adds "More texts, fire pit gatherings and challenges await the lovestruck Islanders, meaning there’ll be plenty for them to dish the dirt on in the Beach Hut. Twists and turns will follow every step of the way, with shock recoupling's, unexpected breakups and dramatic dumpings.

As well as Maya returning as host, Iain Sterling will be back in the voice over booth to do the honours as narrator.

When does Love Island start?

The new series of Love Island will launch on ITV2 and ITVX on Monday, June 5 at 9pm.

Plus, returning to ITV2 and streaming on ITVX is Love Island: Aftersun, with Maya hosting live from London, catching up with Islanders as they leave the Villa, getting first-hand interviews from family, celebrity fans and ex-Islanders plus airing exclusive unseen footage. Also set to make its return this summer is the official Love Island podcast, Love Island: The Morning After, hosted by Sam Thompson and Indiyah Polak as they chat through their thoughts on the latest couplings, dumpings and bombshell antics.
