A start date for the new series of Love Island has been confirmed, according to reports.

Excitement has been building amid rumours the Love Island 2022 will be coming to ITV2 on Monday June 6.

A TV insider told The Sun: “Love Island is coming back with a bang and it will begin on the second full week in June.

“The schedules are being put together now and fans can expect a long, hot summer of fun from the villa from June 6, filming for the promotional adverts is beginning in the next couple of weeks and the ads will start in May.

New singletons will be hoping to find love like previous contestants Tommy Fury and Molly-Mae Hague (Dave Benett)

“This series is going to be the longest ever and it’s from a brand new location so it’s all very exciting.”

When approached by The Standard for comment, an ITV2 spokesperson said: “It’s too early to confirm scheduling for the show.”

Little is currently known about the upcoming seventh series of Love Island.

TV executives have confirmed, however, the new series of the popular dating reality TV show will be filmed in a new villa.

A statement read: “The ultimate Summer of love is on the horizon as Love Island makes it’s long awaited return, direct from a brand new villa in Mallorca.

“Applications are currently open for singletons looking for a long, hot Summer…”

Many of the stars have launched their own showbiz careers after starring on the show, including the likes of Molly-Mae Hague and Maura Higgins.

Laura Whitmore will return to our screens as the host for the 2022 summer series once again.

She took on the role after her friend and the former host of the show Caroline Flack took her own life aged 40 in February 2020.
