Love Island 2022 series only had one smoker and he had to leave villa to light up

There was only one smoker among the Love Island stars and they were forced to have a sneaky fag alone and leave the villa to do so.

Casa Amor bombshells Josh Le Gove and Coco Lodge spilled the beans on the secret cigarette smoker, saying that it was Davide Sanclimenti, who went on to win the ITV2 series.

The 27-year-old Italian had to go out the front door of the villa to get his nicotine fix, so that he was away from the cameras.

Speaking to Closer magazine, contestany Josh said: "It was just outside the front."

Coco added: "It was only Davide that smoked, so he was probably out there having a great time by himself."

She added: "Adam [Collard] vaped, but he came in later."

It used to be that Islanders on the ITV2 dating show openly smoked on screen but since the 2019 series, this was stopped and those who wanted a cigarette had to use a designated smoking area.

Smoking in groups is discouraged by producers and Islanders can vape away from the camera.

It was a situation that Becky Hill found rather odd when she came into the villa to perform during the recent series.

She said: "Well if anybody wants a cigarette they have to go out one by one to this tree outside with a bucket and smoke on their own.

"I was like: ‘Wow, really?’ That was a funny little fact that I thought was quite interesting.

"Obviously the producers don’t want to miss any filming and they’re not allowed to be filmed smoking and not really drinking so I found that quite amusing."

Sharon Gafka, who was an Islander in a previous series, has also spoken about what happens if you are a smoker.

She said: "If you wanted a cigarette you would have to say into your microphone 'I really want to go for a cigarette'.

"They'd say, 'OK, we'll get someone from production to supervise you and it'll take place outside the front door somewhere'.

"You would go there, you would have your cigarette and then you'd go straight back in. You wouldn't be on your own, it would be you and a member of production."
